Junior Entrepreneur Programme
5th & 6th Class are taking part in the Junior Entrepreneur Programme this year!
Through the JEP curriculum, pupils get a clear picture of what creating a business is all about. The programme is designed to integrate into the primary school curriculum, with each step providing opportunities for pupils to learn new life skills in addition to comprehensively covering their core subjects.
The programme works closely with the local community, involving local entrepreneurs who share their story and that of their business with the pupils. This puts entrepreneurship in a local and meaningful context. We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to Padraig from News Mag Media (creators of Primary Planet and Newsflash magazines) for visiting 5th & 6th Class recently to talk about being an entrepreneur and discussing tips on setting up a business.
In groups, pupils came up with five potential business ideas. During our "Dragon's Den" day, one proposal was chosen as the class big idea. Since then, pupils have invested in and produced their own product from scratch. The name of their company is "Beads and Bobs". Their company creates and sells two products - key chains and bracelets. Both of these items can be personalised and will be available for sale at a school-hosted JEP Showcase Day on May 15th.
Please keep an eye on the website for updates on product images and information on our upcoming Showcase Day!
